This weeks concept is Occam’s Razor
Are ya’ll familiar with it? And how does it relate to blown glass? The typical definition is along the lines of “the easiest solution is often the best”
The running joke around the studio is that I don’t believe in it and perhaps it’s not a joke if it’s true. Alas, I’m a huge fan of accuracy and precision over ease of completion. Perhaps that's why I’m found doing the behind-the-scenes work, like creating beautiful cut sheets for the lighting details on our custom chandeliers or tying the perfect bow on our glass flowers.
Truth be told, part of the inspiration this week came from a podcast. I was listening to LeVar Burton Reads, and I heard the phrase, Occam’s Razor. The short story that he read was great too, for one it’s like Reading Rainbow for adults and secondly, there was a haunted house who’s only desire was to become a home to a family again. It's no secret, I’m a sucker for old houses, and now that’s evolved into old houses filled with glass. Those walls, filled with history, are the perfect canvas for an installation - usually platters and orbs - hugging doorways or sprawling across a wall. The kitchens love blown glass pendant lights, to crown a space so full of life. Old or new, Glass is timeless, it belongs everywhere.
